Beef Sausage Soup Recipe (Sup Daging Sosis Sapi)

Welcome to a deliciously comforting recipe for Beef Sausage Soup, a hearty and flavorful dish that’s perfect for warming up on a chilly day. This recipe combines tender chunks of beef, savory sausage, and a medley of vegetables in a savory broth, seasoned to perfection. Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients

  • 2 large carrots, sliced on the diagonal
  • 1 large potato, diced
  • 6 green beans, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/4 head of cabbage, chopped
  • 1 stalk of scallions, finely sliced
  • A handful of fresh celery leaves, finely chopped
  • 150 grams of beef or beef shank, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 beef sausage, sliced into rounds
  • 1.5 liters of water
  • 2 teaspoons of bouillon powder
  • Salt to taste

Spice Paste

  • 5 cloves of shallots
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 teaspoon of whole black peppercorns
  • 1/2 red tomato
  • 1 tablespoon of cooking oil for sautéing

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Broth: In a large pot, bring the water to a boil.

  2. Sauté the Spice Paste: While waiting for the water to boil, heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the shallots, garlic, black peppercorns, and red tomato. Sauté until fragrant and the shallots are translucent.

  3. Cook the Beef: Add the beef pieces to the pan with the sautéed spices. Cook until the beef starts to brown, then transfer everything into the pot of boiling water.

  4. Simmer the Soup: Allow the soup to come to a boil again. Once boiling, add the sliced carrots, green beans, and diced potatoes. Cook until the vegetables are partially tender and the beef is becoming tender.

  5. Add Sausage and Seasonings: Incorporate the sliced beef sausage, salt, and bouillon powder. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Continue cooking until the vegetables are fully tender and the beef is well-cooked.

  6. Finish with Greens: Stir in the chopped cabbage, scallions, and celery leaves. Let the soup cook for a few more minutes until the cabbage is tender and the flavors are well combined.

  7. Serve: Turn off the heat and ladle the soup into bowls. Garnish with fried shallots if desired, and serve hot.

Enjoy this hearty and flavorful Beef Sausage Soup with a side of crusty bread or as a standalone meal. It’s a perfect choice for a comforting lunch or dinner.
