Simple Siamese Nila Soup Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 baby Siamese gourds (labuh siam), cut to preference
  • 2 carrots, sliced as desired
  • 1 whole Nila fish, cleaned and prepared
  • Ground spices:
    • 1 teaspoon ground pepper
    • 3 large garlic cloves
  • Salt and seasoning to taste
  • 1 liter water

Steps:

  1. Prepare the Vegetables and Fish: Slice the Siamese gourds and carrots according to your preference. Clean the Nila fish thoroughly and set aside.
  2. Blend the Spices: In a blender or mortar and pestle, grind together the garlic cloves and ground pepper until smooth.
  3. Combine Ingredients: In a pot, add the ground spices, prepared vegetables, Nila fish, and water.
  4. Cook the Soup: Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer until the vegetables are tender and the fish is cooked through.
  5. Season to Taste: Add salt and seasoning as desired. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
  6. Serve: Remove from heat and serve hot.
