Special Meatloaf With Heinz 57 Sauce ๐
Description:
My grandmother shared this recipe with me many years ago, and it’s been our family favorite ever since. I generally use very lean ground beef, and it’s still nice and moist, making it perfect for sandwiches the next day! This version of meatloaf pays homage to the Mid-Atlantic region, where Heinz 57 sauce became a household staple.

Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef ๐ฅฉ
- 1 egg ๐ฅ
- 1/4 cup milk ๐ฅ
- 1/2 tsp salt ๐ง
- 1 small onion, finely chopped ๐ง
- 1/4 tsp pepper ๐ถ๏ธ
- 3 tbsp Heinz 57 Sauce ๐
Instructions:
-
Combine Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, thoroughly combine the lean ground beef, egg, milk, salt, chopped onion, pepper, and reserve 3 tablespoons of Heinz 57 Sauce for later. Be careful not to overmix; a light hand is key to keeping the meatloaf tender.
-
Shape the Loaf: Shape the mixture into a loaf shape, approximately 8 x 4 x 1 1/2 inches, and place it in a loaf pan. If your ground beef is very lean, it’s a good idea to grease the pan lightly beforehand to prevent sticking.
-
Add the Sauce: Brush the top of the meatloaf with the reserved 3 tablespoons of Heinz 57 Sauce. This will add a delicious tangy flavor and a beautiful glaze to the finished dish.
-
Bake: Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC), then bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until it’s cooked through and nicely browned on top.
-
Rest and Serve: Once the meatloaf is done, allow it to rest for 5 minutes before slicing. This helps the juices redistribute throughout the loaf, ensuring a moist and flavorful result. Slice the meatloaf and serve hot, accompanied by your favorite sides.
This special meatloaf with Heinz 57 Sauce is a delightful twist on a classic dish, perfect for any weeknight dinner or special occasion. Enjoy the hearty flavors and the nostalgia of a cherished family recipe! ๐ฝ๏ธ
