Category: Appetizers
Servings: 5
Ingredients:
Ingredient | Quantity |
---|---|
Evelina Apples | 1 |
Speck (cured ham) | 15 slices |
Fresh Sage Leaves | 10 leaves |
Extra Virgin Olive Oil | 40g |
Fresh Thyme | 2 sprigs |
Fresh Rosemary | 1 sprig |
Garlic Clove | 1 clove |
Instructions:
To create the Speck and Apple Skewers, start by washing the apple thoroughly and cutting it in half. Cut each half into wedges, ensuring they are easy to skewer.
Wrap a slice of speck (cured ham) around each apple wedge, securing it tightly. Thread the wrapped apple pieces onto a wooden skewer, adding a fresh sage leaf between each piece of speck-wrapped apple.
Now, prepare the aromatic olive oil infusion: pick the leaves from the thyme and rosemary sprigs and place them into a small glass. Pour the extra virgin olive oil over the herbs, allowing the flavors to infuse.
Heat a pan and drizzle a little of the herb-infused olive oil into it. Add a whole garlic clove and sauté it for a few seconds, just until it releases its fragrance.
Once the garlic is slightly golden, carefully add the speck and apple skewers to the pan. Sauté the skewers for approximately 4 minutes, turning them halfway through the cooking time. During this process, brush the skewers with additional infused oil and season with a sprinkle of freshly ground black pepper.
Once the skewers are golden and crispy, remove them from the pan and serve immediately.
These Speck and Apple Skewers make for a delightful appetizer that combines the smoky richness of speck with the crisp, natural sweetness of apples. The aromatic olive oil and herbs elevate the dish, making it an irresistible choice for any occasion!
