Chili Pepper Infused Olive Oil (Olio al Peperoncino)

Category: Sauces & Dressings
Servings: 1 Bottle

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Dried chili peppers 30g
Extra virgin olive oil 1 liter

Instructions:

  1. Sanitize the Bottles: Begin by thoroughly sanitizing the bottles you’ll be using for the chili oil. Follow the guidelines provided by the Ministry of Health for sterilization. Be sure to remove any metal parts or rubber seals from the bottles before boiling them to ensure they are completely sanitized.

  2. Prepare the Chili Peppers: Once the bottles are sanitized and dried, wear gloves to handle the dried chili peppers. Start by removing the stems from each chili pepper. Depending on your preference, you can either leave them whole or crumble them slightly to release more flavor.

  3. Fill the Bottles: Next, take a sanitized funnel and carefully place it into the opening of your sterilized bottle. Add the prepared chili peppers into the bottle, ensuring they are evenly distributed.

  4. Add the Olive Oil: With the funnel still in place, slowly pour the extra virgin olive oil into the bottle, making sure the chili peppers are completely submerged. You may need to gently shake the bottle to ensure everything settles well.

  5. Seal and Store: Once the bottle is filled, tightly close the cap to secure the contents. Store the chili-infused olive oil in a cool, dark place for about 1 to 2 weeks to allow the flavors to infuse. Shake the bottle occasionally to mix the ingredients.

This homemade chili-infused olive oil is perfect for adding a spicy kick to your dishes. Use it to drizzle over pasta, pizza, grilled vegetables, or even as a dip for crusty bread. Enjoy the warmth and flavor that this simple yet bold oil brings to your kitchen.
