Description:

Indulge in the delightful aroma and flavor of freshly baked Buttermilk & Honey Bread with this easy-to-follow recipe. Perfect for any occasion, this bread combines the tanginess of buttermilk with the sweetness of honey, creating a tender crumb that will leave you craving for more.

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 packet (1/4 oz) dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 to 6 1/2 cups white bread flour
  • 1 egg

Instructions:

  1. Lightly spray two small loaf pans or one large loaf pan with non-stick cooking spray or coat with melted butter. Place them on a baking sheet and set aside.

  2. In the bowl of a stand mixer, whisk together the warm water, dry yeast, and sugar by hand. Allow it to stand for 2 minutes until the yeast activates.

  3. Stir in the buttermilk, unsalted butter, honey, salt, and half of the flour using a wooden spoon.

  4. Fit the stand mixer with a dough hook attachment. Knead the dough, gradually adding more flour as needed, until a soft yet firm dough forms, approximately 8 to 10 minutes.

  5. Lightly cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise for 45 to 90 minutes, or until it has doubled in size.

  6. Gently deflate the dough and either divide it into two equal portions or keep it as one loaf.

  7. Shape the dough into oblongs and place them into the prepared loaf pans.

  8. Insert the loaf pans into a large plastic bag and allow the dough to rise again until doubled in size, approximately 30 to 45 minutes.

  9. Glaze the risen dough with a beaten egg. Alternatively, you can brush the loaf with melted butter for added richness.

  10. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  11. Place the bread in the preheated oven and bake for about 45 minutes, or until the loaves are well browned and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.

  12. Once baked, carefully turn the loaves out onto a cooling rack and allow them to cool completely before slicing.

This Buttermilk & Honey Bread is best enjoyed fresh, but it also freezes well, allowing you to savor its homemade goodness anytime you crave a slice. Whether served warm with a pat of butter or used as the foundation for your favorite sandwich, this bread is sure to become a staple in your kitchen.
