Savor the rich, hearty flavors of Indonesian cuisine with this delectable Savory Beef Rib Soup. Perfectly simmered beef ribs, tender vegetables, and a blend of aromatic spices come together to create a comforting dish that’s sure to warm your soul.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg beef ribs
  • 2 carrots, peeled and sliced
  • 2 potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 2 stalks green onions, sliced
  • 7 shallots, thinly sliced
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • Reduced sodium salt, to taste
  • MSG-free bouillon powder, to taste
  • Ground black pepper, to taste
  • Ground nutmeg, to taste
  • Canola oil
  • Water

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Beef Ribs:
Start by washing the beef ribs thoroughly. Place them in a pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook for about 5 minutes. Discard the water and set the beef aside. This process helps to remove excess impurities. Cut the beef ribs into bite-sized pieces, as desired.

  2. Initial Boil:
In a pressure cooker, add the cleaned beef ribs and fresh water. Cook under pressure until the beef is tender. Once done, remove the beef ribs from the cooker and set them aside. Keep the cooking liquid as it will be used in the soup.

  3. Sauté Aromatics:
Heat some canola oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the sliced shallots and minced garlic. Sauté until they are fragrant and golden brown.

  4. Combine Ingredients:
In a large pot, combine the sautéed shallots and garlic with the beef ribs and the reserved cooking liquid. Add the sliced carrots and let it cook for a few minutes.

  5. Add Vegetables and Seasonings:
Add the cubed potatoes to the pot. Season with reduced sodium salt, MSG-free bouillon powder, ground black pepper, and ground nutmeg. Stir well to ensure the seasonings are evenly distributed.

  6. Simmer:
Allow the soup to simmer until the potatoes and carrots are tender. This should take about 20-30 minutes.

  7. Finish with Green Onions:
Add the sliced green onions to the pot. Continue to simmer until everything is cooked through and the flavors are well combined.

  8. Serve:
Once the soup is ready, ladle it into bowls and serve hot. Enjoy the rich, comforting flavors of this traditional Indonesian beef rib soup.

This recipe not only brings a taste of Indonesia into your kitchen but also offers a hearty, satisfying meal that’s perfect for any occasion.
