- 5 shallots (bawang merah), sliced
- 3 cloves garlic (bawang putih), minced
- 1 stalk lemongrass (sereh), bruised
- A small piece of ginger (jahe), bruised
- 1 medium tomato, sliced
- Oil for sautéing
- 1/2 pot medium-sized water (for boiling)
- Salt to taste
- Seasoning powder (such as Sasa), to taste

- Bring the water in a pot to a boil.
- Once boiling, add the beef ribs, bruised lemongrass, bruised ginger, and tomato slices.
- Simmer for approximately 1 hour or until the meat is tender. Skim off any brown foam from the surface to ensure a clear broth. The tomato helps enhance the flavor and tenderize the meat naturally.
