Sop Kaki Sapi (Indonesian Cow’s Feet Soup)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cow’s feet
  • 4 carrots, cut into pieces
  • 3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, cut into pieces
  • 2 stalks of green onions, cut into pieces
  • 3 stalks of celery, tied into a bundle
  • Salt to taste
  • Granulated sugar to taste
  • Ground pepper to taste
  • Ground nutmeg to taste
  • Fried shallots, for garnish
  • Water as needed

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cow’s Feet:

    • Begin by boiling the cow’s feet until they are tender and the meat separates easily from the bones. Once tender, remove the feet from the pot, let them cool slightly, and cut them into bite-sized pieces. Return the pieces to the boiling water.
  2. Cook the Vegetables:

    • Add the carrots, garlic, tomatoes, salt, granulated sugar, and ground nutmeg to the pot. Continue cooking until the carrots are tender.
  3. Season the Soup:

    • Stir in the ground pepper, green onions, and celery bundle. Cook for a few more minutes to blend the flavors.
  4. Serve:

    • Ladle the soup into serving bowls and garnish with a generous sprinkle of fried shallots. Serve hot and enjoy the rich, comforting flavors of this traditional Indonesian soup.
