Ingredients:
- 1 kg Gurame fish
- Juice of 1 lime
- Sweet and spicy soy sauce (optional)
- Spice Paste:
- 7 red chilies
- 7 shallots
- 3 cloves garlic
- 3 candlenuts
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- A small piece of ginger
- A small piece of turmeric
- 3 teaspoons sugar
- 3 teaspoons salt
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Fish: Clean the Gurame fish thoroughly and rub it with lime juice. Allow it to marinate for 10 minutes to infuse the flavors.
-
Prepare the Spice Paste: In a food processor or mortar and pestle, blend together the red chilies, shallots, garlic, candlenuts, ginger, and turmeric until smooth. Add the turmeric powder, sugar, and salt, and mix well.
-
Cook the Spice Paste: Heat a Happy Call pan or a similar non-stick pan over medium heat. Add the spice paste and sauté until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
-
Grill the Fish: Place the marinated fish into the pan with the cooked spice paste. Ensure the fish is well-coated with the spice mixture. Cover the pan with a lid and grill over low heat.
-
Add Sweet and Spicy Soy Sauce (Optional): When the fish is almost cooked, you can brush it with sweet and spicy soy sauce if you like extra flavor. Grill for a few more minutes until the sauce is well-adhered to the fish and it is fully cooked.
-
Serve: Once done, remove the fish from the pan. Serve hot and enjoy your grilled Gurame fish with your favorite side dishes.
