Indonesian Chicken Soy Sauce (Ayam Kecap)

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole chicken
  • 10 shallots
  • 7 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 onion
  • 2 kaffir lime leaves
  • Ground pepper
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cooking oil

Instructions:

  1. Peel and thinly slice the shallots, garlic, and onion.
  2. Marinate the chicken with kaffir lime leaves, salt, and seasoning for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Heat the cooking oil in a pan, then sauté the sliced shallots, garlic, and onion until lightly browned.
  4. Add the chicken and mix well. Season with salt, pepper, and seasoning to taste.
  5. Stir-fry until the chicken turns white.
  6. Add soy sauce according to preference.
  7. Pour in water to adjust the amount of sauce desired. Stir and simmer until slightly thickened.
  8. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Once cooked through and flavorful, remove from heat and transfer to a serving bowl.
