Sweet and Spicy Beef by Aisyah

Indulge in the tantalizing flavors of Daging Sapi Manis Pedas ala Aisyah, a delightful Indonesian dish that combines the rich taste of beef with the perfect balance of sweet and spicy notes. Here’s how you can recreate this culinary delight at home!

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams beef, sliced to your preference
  • 10 red curly chilies
  • 15 bird’s eye chilies (adjust more or less depending on your spice tolerance)
  • 8 shallots
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • Coarse black pepper and coriander seeds to taste
  • Sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (add more if you prefer it sweeter)
  • 1 teaspoon beef seasoning (I use Masako)

Steps:

  1. Prepare the Beef:

    • Slice the beef according to your desired thickness and wash it thoroughly.
  2. Prepare the Chilies and Spices:

    • Slice the curly chilies and bird’s eye chilies. For those who love extra heat, feel free to add more bird’s eye chilies.
  3. Blend the Spices:

    • Blend the shallots, garlic, coarse black pepper, and coriander seeds until smooth.
  4. Cook the Spices:

    • Heat some oil in a pan and sauté the blended spices until fragrant. Add the sliced chilies and stir well.
  5. Add the Seasonings:

    • Pour in enough water to cover the ingredients. Add sweet soy sauce, sugar, salt, and beef seasoning. Mix well.
  6. Cook the Beef:

    • Add the sliced beef to the pan and let it simmer until the liquid reduces and the beef is tender and flavorful.
  7. Final Touches:

    • Once the water has evaporated and the beef is well-coated with the sauce, your dish is ready to be served.

Enjoy this scrumptious Sweet and Spicy Beef with steamed rice or your favorite side dishes. Bon appétit! 🌶️🍛

Happy Cooking!
