Indulge in the vibrant flavors of Indonesian cuisine with this delicious Tahu Kecap Telur Puyuh, a savory and satisfying dish that combines fried tofu, quail eggs, and succulent shrimp in a rich, tangy sauce. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a special meal to impress your guests, this recipe brings a touch of exotic flair to your table.

Ingredients:

  • 10 pieces of fried tofu, cubed
  • 15 quail eggs, boiled and peeled
  • 80 grams of shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 6 red curly chilies, sliced
  • 5 small red chilies, sliced
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 6 shallots, sliced
  • 1 medium tomato, chopped
  • 1 stalk of green onion, sliced
  • Sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
  • Soy sauce (kecap asin)
  • Oyster sauce
  • Salt, to taste
  • Sugar, to taste
  • Chicken stock powder, to taste
  • Ground black pepper, to taste
  • Water
  • Cooking oil, for sautéing

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:

    • Slice the shallots and both types of chilies thinly. Mince the garlic. Chop the tomato and slice the green onion. Set these ingredients aside.
  2. Sauté the Aromatics:

    • Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sliced shallots. Sauté until they become fragrant and translucent, about 2 minutes.
  3. Add the Chilies and Tofu:

    • Incorporate the sliced red curly chilies and small red chilies into the skillet. Stir-fry for an additional 1-2 minutes, allowing the chilies to release their aroma. Then, add the cubed fried tofu to the skillet.
  4. Cook the Shrimp and Quail Eggs:

    • Stir in the shrimp and quail eggs, ensuring they are evenly mixed with the other ingredients. Cook until the shrimp turns pink and opaque, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Flavor the Dish:

    • Pour in a splash of water to create a bit of sauce. Add sweet soy sauce (kecap manis), soy sauce (kecap asin), and oyster sauce to taste. Season with salt, chicken stock powder, sugar, and ground black pepper. Stir well to combine all the flavors.
  6. Simmer and Finish:

    • Allow the mixture to simmer for a few minutes, letting the flavors meld together. Adjust seasoning as needed. Add the chopped tomato and sliced green onion in the final minute of cooking.
  7. Serve:

    • Once the sauce has thickened slightly and the vegetables are tender, remove from heat. Serve hot over steamed rice or enjoy as a standalone dish.

This Tahu Kecap Telur Puyuh is sure to be a hit with its balance of sweet, salty, and spicy flavors, complemented by the satisfying textures of tofu, quail eggs, and shrimp. Enjoy this flavorful Indonesian stir-fry with your family and friends!
