Ingredients:

  • 500 grams ladyfinger (okra), chopped
  • 10 small onions, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup coconut, grated
  • 2 green chillies, finely chopped
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Oil, as needed

Instructions:

  1. Begin by preparing all the ingredients and keeping them ready.
  2. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and curry leaves, allowing them to cook for about 15 seconds.
  3. Once the mustard seeds start popping, add the chopped onions and cook until they become soft.
  4. Add the finely chopped green chillies, okra (ladyfinger), and salt. Stir everything well, then cover the pan and cook until the okra softens.
  5. After the okra is cooked, add the turmeric powder and grated coconut. Stir to combine and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  6. Once done, turn off the heat and your Kerala Style Okra Thoran is ready to serve.
