  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Servings: Varies

Ingredients:

Quantity Ingredient
1 cup Flour
1/2 cup Butter (melted)
1/4 cup Brown sugar
1 cup Pure maple syrup
2/3 cup Brown sugar
1/4 cup Butter
2 Eggs
1 tsp Vanilla extract
3/4 cup Chopped pecans
1/2 tsp Salt
2 tbsp Flour

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Heat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).

  2. Prepare Crust: In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of melted butter, and 1/4 cup of brown sugar. Stir until well mixed.

  3. Press Crust: Press the mixture evenly onto the bottom of an 8-inch square baking pan, using your fingers to ensure it forms a solid crust.

  4. Partially Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 5 minutes. Once done, remove from the oven and set aside.

  5. Prepare Filling: Increase the oven temperature to 400ยฐF (200ยฐC). In a saucepan, combine the maple syrup and 2/3 cup of brown sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 5 minutes.

  6. Cool Mixture: Allow the maple syrup and brown sugar mixture to cool to lukewarm. Once cooled, stir in 1/4 cup of butter until melted.

  7. Incorporate Eggs: Add the eggs to the mixture, stirring well to combine.

  8. Add Pecans and Flavorings: Stir in the chopped pecans, vanilla extract, salt, and 2 tablespoons of flour until the mixture is thoroughly combined.

  9. Pour Over Crust: Pour the prepared filling over the partially baked crust, spreading it evenly.

  10. Bake Again: Return the pan to the oven and bake at 400ยฐF (200ยฐC) for 5 minutes. Then, reduce the heat to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and continue baking for another 20 minutes, or until the top bubbles and the edges are golden brown.

  11. Cool and Serve: Allow the Maple Pecan Dessert Squares to cool before slicing into squares. Serve them as is or with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream for extra indulgence!
