Ingredients:

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 4 tablespoons Splenda sugar substitute
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup Cozy Cottage® Sugar Free Syrup
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit (220 degrees Celsius).
  2. Grease a large baking sheet with butter or cooking spray.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, chopped pecans, chopped walnuts, Splenda sugar substitute, baking powder, and salt. Mix well to incorporate all the dry ingredients.
  4. Add the chilled and cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, Cozy Cottage® Sugar Free Syrup, and unsweetened applesauce until well combined.
  6. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients mixture. Gently stir with a fork until a soft dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.
  7. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough gently 5-6 times until it comes together.
  8. Divide the dough in half. Using a lightly floured rolling pin, roll out one half of the dough into a 7-inch round circle.
  9. Cut the rolled-out dough into 8 equal wedges using a sharp knife. Repeat the same process with the remaining half of the dough.
  10. Carefully transfer the scones onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each scone.
  11. Using a fork, pierce the tops of the scones to allow steam to escape during baking.
  12. Brush the tops of the scones with the remaining Cozy Cottage® Sugar Free Syrup for a glossy finish.
  13. Bake the scones in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and are cooked through.
  14. Once baked, remove the scones from the oven and let them cool slightly on the baking sheet.
  15. For an extra touch of sweetness, sprinkle the warm scones with a pinch of Splenda®, if desired.
  16. Serve the Maple Pecan Scones warm with a dollop of butter or your favorite spread. Enjoy the irresistible combination of flavors and textures with every bite!
