Matar Ajwain Ki Puri (Peas and Carom Seed Puri)

Description: Matar Ajwain Ki Puri is a simple, flavorful Indian dish that makes for a perfect breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The addition of peas enhances its taste, making it even more delightful.

Cuisine: Indian
Course: Indian Breakfast
Diet: Vegetarian

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups wheat flour
  • 1 cup green peas
  • 5 to 6 green chillies
  • 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 teaspoon celery
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Water, as needed
  • Oil, for frying

Preparation Time: 25 minutes
Cooking Time: 35 minutes

Instructions:

  1. Start by grinding the green peas and green chillies together in a mixer grinder to form a smooth paste. Set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, add wheat flour, turmeric powder, salt, coriander leaves, celery, cumin seeds, and ajwain (carom seeds). Mix thoroughly.
  3. Add the prepared green peas and chilli paste into the flour mixture. Gradually add water little by little and knead into a soft, smooth dough.
  4. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  5. After resting, divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball into a small, round puri, using dry flour to prevent sticking.
  6. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, fry the puris one by one until they turn golden brown and crisp.
  7. Remove the puris from the oil and place them on a paper towel to absorb any excess oil.
  8. Serve the Matar Ajwain Ki Puri hot, ideally with Jaipuri Aloo Pyaz Ki Sabzi and Boondi Raita for a fulfilling Sunday breakfast. You can also enjoy them with mango pickle for added flavor.

Enjoy this warm, crunchy delight with your loved ones!
