Ingredients:
- 2 onions
- 1 garlic clove
- 2 lbs lean ground beef
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 2 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (4 oz) mild green chilies
- 1 bag (10 oz) tortilla chips
- 1/2 cup green olives, sliced
- 1/2 cup pitted black olives, sliced
- 1 cup mild cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup monterey jack cheese, shredded
Instructions:

Prepare the Meat Sauce:
- In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the onions in oil until soft.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Transfer the onion-garlic mixture to a small bowl.
- Cook the lean ground beef in the same skillet until no longer pink, about 8 minutes.
- Return the onion and garlic to the skillet with the beef.
- Stir in chili powder, sugar, cumin, oregano, salt, pepper, and cinnamon. Cook for 2-3 minutes to blend the flavors.
- Stir in the undrained tomatoes and green chilies, breaking up the tomatoes. Simmer gently for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Assemble the Aztec Pie:
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Spread half of the tortilla chips evenly on the bottom of a large casserole dish.
- Spoon half of the meat sauce over the chips.
- Sprinkle with sliced green onions and scatter half of the sliced olives over the sauce.
- Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar and monterey jack cheeses over the olives.
- Press down gently with a spatula to compress the layers.
- Add another layer of tortilla chips on top of the cheese and meat sauce.
- Spoon the remaining meat sauce over the chips and press down slightly again.
- Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheeses over the top.

Bake the Aztec Pie:
- Place the casserole dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes, or until the dish is hot and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let it stand for 10 minutes before serving.

Serve and Garnish:
- Garnish the top of the Aztec Pie with the reserved olives.
- Add additional sliced green olives, avocado, and lime wedges for extra flavor and presentation if desired.
