  • 5-10 pieces of chicken fillet
  • 1 carrot, thinly sliced diagonally
  • 5 baby corns, thinly sliced diagonally
  • 1/2 head of cauliflower, separated into small florets
  • 5 leaves of pak choy, cut into 4-5 pieces per leaf
  • 2 cabbage leaves, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1-2 tablespoons chicken seasoning powder (Royco)
  • 1.5 glasses of water

Thickening agent:

  • 1/2 glass of water + 1 tablespoon sago flour

Ground spices:

  • 7 shallots
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 teaspoon ground pepper

For sautéing:

  • Oil

Steps

  1. Prepare the Tofu: Slice the tofu, but not too thinly to avoid breaking it. Fry the tofu until golden brown and set aside.

  2. Prepare the Vegetables: Wash and slice the vegetables. Remember to include the pak choy which is easy to forget!

  3. Sauté the Ground Spices: Heat oil in a pan over low heat. Sauté the ground shallots, garlic, and pepper until fragrant and cooked through.

  4. Cook the Chicken: Add the chicken fillet to the pan and stir. Pour in 1.5 glasses of water and cook until it comes to a boil.

  5. Add the Vegetables: Add the sliced carrot, baby corn, and cauliflower. Stir, cover, and let the vegetables cook until they are tender.

  6. Season the Dish: Add the oyster sauce, soy sauce, and chicken seasoning powder (Royco). Stir well to combine all the flavors.

  7. Add Remaining Vegetables: Add the pak choy and cabbage, and stir to combine. Finally, add the thickening agent (1/2 glass of water mixed with 1 tablespoon of sago flour) and stir until the sauce thickens. Adjust the seasoning to taste.

  8. Serve: Transfer the cooked vegetables to a serving plate or bowl. Arrange the fried tofu on top and drizzle with the sauce.

  9. Enjoy: Your Sapo Tahu Ayam ala Mey is ready to be served. Enjoy this delightful and flavorful dish!
