Meatballs in Garlic, Tomato, and Mint Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 350g minced meat (chicken, mutton, or beef)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1/2 cup parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp mustard powder
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 2 tbsp tomato puree
  • 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Meatballs:

    • In a mixing bowl, combine the minced meat with chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, mint leaves, salt, pepper, and mustard powder.
    • Mix everything thoroughly until well combined.
    • Shape the mixture into small-sized balls.
  2. Fry the Meatballs:

    • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
    • Fry the meatballs in batches until they are evenly browned and cooked through.
    • Remove from the pan and set aside.
  3. Make the Sauce:

    • In the same pan, heat 1 tablespoon of oil.
    • Add the chopped onion and celery, sauté until softened.
    • Stir in the tomato puree and tomato ketchup, mixing well to form a smooth sauce.
    • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Combine Meatballs with Sauce:

    • Add the fried meatballs back into the pan with the sauce.
    • Toss gently to coat the meatballs evenly with the sauce.
    • Allow to simmer for a few minutes until the meatballs are heated through and the flavors meld together.
  5. Serve:

    • Transfer the meatballs in garlic, tomato, and mint sauce to a serving dish.
    • Garnish with additional chopped mint leaves if desired.
    • Serve hot, accompanied by rice or crusty bread.
