Ingredients:
- 1 bulk Italian sausage
- 1 green pepper
- 2 slices Swiss cheese
- 10 slices of cheese
- 1/2 cup olive oil
Instructions:
1. Make Bread Dough:
- Make your bread dough (I use the 1b. setting on my bread maker).
- Let the bread dough rise.
2. Prepare Sausage Patties:
- While the bread is rising, make 2 flat, oblong sausage patties.
- Brown the patties in a skillet until cooked through.
- Remove from grease and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
3. Prepare Dough:
- Roll your dough on a floured cutting board.
- Make two equal rectangular dough sheets.
4. Assemble Sandwiches:
- Place slices of Swiss cheese in the center of each piece of dough.
- Add Italian sausage on top of the cheese.
- Top with sliced green pepper and a tablespoon of spaghetti sauce.
- Bring up the sides of the dough and close it around the meat and cheese mixture. Pinch at the top and sides to seal.
- Poke a fork on each side of the dough to let steam escape.
5. Bake:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Place the assembled sandwiches on a greased baking sheet.
- Bake in the oven for 20-30 minutes, or until the bread dough is golden brown.
6. Serve:
- Remove the sandwiches from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
- Cut the sandwich into pieces.
- Serve with remaining spaghetti sauce for dipping.
