Halloween Green Bread πŸŽƒπŸž

Recipe by Barbaja

Overview:

I created this whimsical recipe myself, perfect for Halloween gatherings where kids will delight in its eerie charm. Dubbed “ugly monster bread,” this creation cleverly incorporates fruit, making it a sneaky way to ensure your little ones get their daily dose of nutrients. Pair it with hot dogs and beans for a rustic autumn feast, or enjoy it as a dessert with its green hue adding a spooky touch to your Halloween spread. πŸ¦‡πŸ‘»

Instructions:

Step Description
1 Preheat your oven to 425Β°F (220Β°C). Grease a cast iron fry pan for crispy edges.
2 In a mixing bowl, combine shortening, cornmeal, eggs, flour, baking powder, milk, sugar, and blueberries.
3 Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
4 Pour the batter into the prepared fry pan.
5 Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
6 If you prefer a less vibrant green color, drain the blueberries before adding them to the batter and substitute 1/2 cup of milk.
7 The bread will crack slightly and pull away from the sides of the pan when done.
8 For a variation, you can use canned strawberries, such as the Oregon brand, to create a red version of this bread.
