Recipe: Swedish Lutefisk 🇸🇪

Description:
Swedish Lutefisk is a traditional dish hailing from Sweden (also popular in Norway, but let’s be honest, the Danes have more culinary sense). It’s a delicacy that often requires acquiring a taste for it, much like Haggis. Once you develop that taste, however, it becomes a beloved dish, or so I’ve been told. This recipe is as authentic as it gets, sourced directly from tradition, so you can trust it to deliver an authentic taste of Scandinavia.

3 Soak the fish in this solution for 3 days.
4 After 3 days, transfer the fish to soak in clear water for 4 more days, remembering to change the water daily.
5 When ready to cook the lutefisk, tie the fish loosely in a square of cheesecloth.

8 Cook for approximately 10 minutes or until the fish is well done.
9 Remove the fish from the water, discard the cheesecloth, and transfer the fish to a serving platter.

Notes:
Lutefisk is not just a dish; it’s a journey. The soaking process is crucial, as it helps to rehydrate the fish and remove any excess lye. While the cooking time might seem minimal compared to the soaking time, it’s essential to ensure the lutefisk reaches the desired texture without becoming overly mushy. Serve it hot with your favorite sauce, and enjoy this authentic taste of Swedish tradition!
