Instructions
To make this delectable Nutella Brioche Bread, begin by preparing the dough. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and dry yeast. Use a fork to mix the two ingredients gently together, ensuring they are evenly distributed.
Next, add the slightly beaten egg to the flour mixture. Afterward, pour in half of the whole milk, stirring it into the flour mixture until fully incorporated. Gradually add the remaining milk, but be sure to allow the first addition to be fully absorbed by the flour before adding the next. This ensures that the dough develops a smooth, consistent texture.
Once all the milk has been absorbed, begin kneading the dough. You can do this by hand or using a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook. Knead until the dough becomes smooth, elastic, and slightly firm to the touch. At this point, add the sugar, salt, and softened butter to the dough, kneading again until everything is well combined and the dough is slightly sticky yet manageable.
Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly greased bowl. Cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and allow the dough to rise in a warm spot. Let it rise for approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
Once the dough has risen, turn it out onto a lightly floured work surface. Roll the dough into a rectangular shape, about 24×40 cm (approximately 9×16 inches). Spread the Nutella generously over the surface of the dough, leaving about a 1 cm (half-inch) border around the edges to avoid spillage during rolling. Use a spatula to ensure the Nutella is evenly distributed across the entire surface of the dough.
Carefully roll the dough from one short edge to the other, forming a tight cylinder. Pinch the edges to seal the roll, ensuring the Nutella filling remains inside.
Prepare your baking pan by greasing it lightly. Place the rolled dough into the pan, covering it loosely with plastic wrap. Allow the dough to rise again in a warm place, such as an oven with the light on, for at least 1 hour or until it has reached the top of the pan.
While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) in preparation for baking. Once the dough has fully risen, whisk together the egg yolk and 3 tablespoons of milk to create a golden glaze. Gently brush this mixture over the top of the dough to give it a beautiful, glossy finish during baking.
Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes. The bread should be golden brown on top and firm to the touch. To ensure even baking, position the pan in the center of the oven.
After baking, remove the Nutella Brioche Bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, carefully remove the bread from the pan and let it cool completely on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
Enjoy this rich, indulgent Nutella brioche as a perfect breakfast, snack, or treat to share with loved ones!
