Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups potatoes, peeled and diced
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 2-4 chili peppers, sliced (adjust to taste)
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 pound (450 grams) ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
- 1 teaspoon ginger powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 cup green beans, trimmed and cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 2 tablespoons oil (for cooking)
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Spice Mix: In a small bowl or coffee cup, combine the ground turmeric, ground cinnamon, ground cumin, cardamom powder, ginger powder, and chili powder. Mix well to create a fragrant spice blend that will infuse your curry with rich flavors.
-
Cook the Vegetables: Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onions, sliced chili peppers, and minced garlic. Sauté until the onions become translucent and soft, which should take about 5 minutes. This will create a flavorful base for your curry.
-
Incorporate the Spices: Add the prepared spice mix to the vegetable mixture in the frying pan. Stir well to ensure that the spices are evenly distributed and begin to release their aromatic scents.
-
Brown the Beef: Add the ground beef to the pan, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook, stirring frequently, until the beef is thoroughly browned and well combined with the spices. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
-
Add Liquids: Pour in the water and add the tomato paste. Stir everything together to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until most of the water has evaporated, leaving a thick, flavorful sauce.
-
Mix in Potatoes and Beans: Add the diced potatoes and green beans to the pan. Stir to mix everything together. Pour in the coconut milk and mix well. If necessary, add a small amount of water (no more than 1/4 cup) to help incorporate the coconut milk and achieve your desired consistency.
-
Simmer and Serve: Allow the curry to simmer gently until the potatoes are tender and cooked through, and the green beans are heated. This should take about 15-20 minutes. Once everything is hot and well combined, serve the curry hot with your favorite side dishes.
Enjoy this delightful Keema Curry, a true one-pot wonder that brings together the savory goodness of beef, the heartiness of potatoes, and the freshness of green beans, all enveloped in a creamy, spiced coconut sauce. Perfect for a satisfying dinner with minimal fuss!
