Homemade Beef Meatballs (Bakso Sapi)
Ingredients:
- 600 grams ground beef
- 6 tablespoons tapioca flour
- 1 tablespoon beef flavoring (Royco or similar)
- 1 teaspoon seasoning (optional)
- Salt, to taste
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- A pinch of baking powder
- A few ice cubes
- 10 cloves garlic, minced
- Fried shallots (for garnish)
Instructions:
-
Prepare Ingredients:
- Begin by finely grinding the black pepper and minced garlic. Set aside.
-
Mix Ingredients:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with tapioca flour, salt, beef flavoring, seasoning (if using), minced garlic, and a pinch of baking powder. Add a few ice cubes to the mixture to keep the meat cold and to help with the texture.
-
Knead the Mixture:
- Mix the ingredients thoroughly until the mixture becomes smooth and elastic. This should take about 5 to 10 minutes of kneading.
-
Chill the Mixture:
- Transfer the meat mixture to the freezer and let it chill for about 1 hour. This step makes the meat easier to shape into balls.
-
Shape the Meatballs:
- Once the mixture is firm, remove it from the freezer. Using a small spoon or melon baller, shape the mixture into small meatballs.
-
Cook the Meatballs:
- Bring a pot of water to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Gently drop the meatballs into the simmering water. Cook until the meatballs float to the surface and are fully cooked through, which should take about 10 to 15 minutes.
-
Prepare the Broth:
- Do not discard the water used to cook the meatballs; it can be used as a broth for serving.
-
Serve:
- Garnish the cooked meatballs with fried shallots. Enjoy your homemade bakso sapi with the broth or as a tasty addition to your favorite dishes.
-
Tip:
- For a richer flavor, consider adding some sliced vegetables or noodles to the broth for a complete meal.
Happy cooking and enjoy your homemade meatballs! ๐
