Sapo Tahu Simple Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 100 grams shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 carrot, sliced diagonally
  • 200 grams silken tofu, lightly fried
  • 1 clove garlic, finely minced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • Sugar, to taste
  • Salt, to taste
  • Water, as needed

Instructions:

  1. Begin by heating a bit of oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until they become fragrant and translucent.

  2. Add the shrimp to the pan, cooking briefly until they just start to turn pink.

  3. Stir in the oyster sauce and Worcestershire sauce, ensuring the shrimp are well-coated with the seasonings.

  4. Add the sliced carrot to the pan, followed by 1 cup of water (or more if needed to cover the vegetables). Allow the mixture to simmer until the carrot slices are tender.

  5. In a small bowl, dissolve the cornstarch in a bit of water to create a slurry. Gradually stir this slurry into the pan, continuing to cook until the sauce thickens.

  6. Gently fold in the lightly fried tofu, making sure it is well distributed and heated through.

  7. Season with sugar and salt to taste, adjusting as needed to balance the flavors.

  8. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary before serving.

This Sapo Tahu Simple is a delightful and quick dish that combines succulent shrimp, tender carrots, and silky tofu in a savory sauce. Serve it over steamed rice for a complete and satisfying meal. Enjoy!
