Soya Keema Masala

Soya Keema Masala is a flavorful vegetarian dish that’s both easy to prepare and packed with protein. This dish features soya chunks soaked in water and then cooked in a rich, aromatic gravy. Perfect for a quick dinner or when entertaining guests, it’s both tasty and simple to make.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup soya chunks
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, finely chopped
  • 2 green chillies, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup green peas
  • 3 potatoes, peeled and cooked
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon coriander powder
  • 1 tablespoon red chili powder (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • Salt, to taste

Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes

Instructions:

  1. Begin by boiling 2 cups of water in a pot. Add 1 tsp salt and the soya chunks to the water. Let them soak for 12–15 minutes. Drain the water and set the soya aside.
  2. If using green peas, place them in hot water for a few minutes, then drain and set aside.
  3. Peel and cook the potatoes in a pressure cooker, then chop them into small pieces.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and add the cumin seeds. Sauté for 15 seconds.
  5. Add the finely chopped onions and green chillies to the pan. Cook until the onions soften.
  6. Once the onions are soft, add the ginger garlic paste and cook for 2 minutes.
  7. Add the tomatoes and cook until they become soft and tender.
  8. Sprinkle in the cumin powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and let it cook for 15 seconds.
  9. Now, add the soya chunks, cooked potatoes, and green peas to the pan. Stir everything together and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
  10. Once done, turn off the heat and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

Serve your Soya Keema Masala with a side of Lasuni Dal, Palak Raita, and Tawa Paratha for a complete and satisfying dinner.
