Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup margarine
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup Smarties or M&Ms, divided

Instructions:

Step Description
1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
2 Beat margarine and brown sugar in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
3 Add flour and chopped walnuts to the mixture. Mix well until combined.

6 In another mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Use an electric mixer at medium speed to blend until smooth and well combined.
7 Add the egg to the cream cheese mixture and mix until fully incorporated.
8 Layer 1/2 cup of Smarties or M&Ms over the baked crust, then pour the cream cheese mixture over the candy layer.
9 In a separate bowl, combine the remaining candy with the reserved crumb mixture. Mix well.
10 Sprinkle the crumb mixture evenly over the cream cheese layer in the pan.
11 Bake the cheesecake squares at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned and the center is set.
12 Allow the squares to cool completely before cutting into 16 equal portions.
