It’s simple to make and packs a punch with its unique combination of ingredients, offering a delightful drink that pairs well with a variety of Indian meals.

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Curd (Dahi / Yogurt) 1 cup
Water 2 cups
Curry Leaves 2 sprigs
Green Chilli 1
Salt To taste
Black Pepper Powder 1/2 teaspoon

Preparation Time:

  • 10 minutes

Cooking Time:

  • 0 minutes (no cooking required)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Curd:
Begin by preparing the curd (dahi). You can either use store-bought curd or make fresh homemade curd. (If you’re interested in making fresh curd, check out our How to Make Homemade Yogurt (Curd) recipe).

  2. Grind the Curry Leaves:
In a mixer jar, combine the curry leaves, green chili, salt, and black pepper powder. Grind them together to form a coarse paste, ensuring that the curry leaves release their rich flavors into the mixture.

  3. Blend the Buttermilk:
Add the curd and water to the coarse paste in the mixer. Blend the mixture again until everything is thoroughly combined and smooth. The water will thin the curd, turning it into a refreshing, drinkable consistency.

  4. Serve:
Pour the prepared curry leaves buttermilk into a glass. For the best experience, serve it chilled, especially during hot weather.

Serving Suggestion:
Curry Leaves Buttermilk pairs wonderfully with a variety of South Indian dishes. For a complete meal, serve it alongside the Iyengar Style Vendhaya Keerai Pulao, Onion Bajji, and South Indian Kosambari with Raw Mango, Cucumber, Carrot & Beetroot. This combination will give you a satisfying and nutritious meal with a blend of flavors and textures.

Enjoy this cooling, flavorful drink and experience the traditional taste of South India in the comfort of your home!
