Ricotta Triangles with Cherry Jam and Nutella

Category: Desserts
Serves: 1 (You can adjust portions as needed)

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Butter 175g
All-purpose flour 300g
Cow’s milk ricotta cheese 250g
Egg 1
Cherry jam to taste
Nutella to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:

    • Begin by preparing the dough for the ricotta triangles. On a clean surface or a large workboard, sift the all-purpose flour. Add the cold butter (cut into small cubes) and the ricotta cheese. Work the ingredients together, ensuring that the butter is well incorporated into the flour and ricotta mixture.
    • If the dough starts sticking to the surface, sprinkle a little extra flour to keep it manageable. Knead the mixture until it becomes smooth, elastic, and dry.
  2. Chill the Dough:

    • Once the dough is ready, wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. This helps firm up the dough and makes it easier to work with.
  3. Roll Out the Dough:

    • After the dough has chilled, remove it from the fridge. Use a rolling pin to roll out the dough on a floured surface until it forms a rectangular sheet, about 2mm thick.
  4. Cut the Dough into Squares:

    • Using a pastry wheel or a sharp knife, cut the rolled-out dough into squares, each with a side length of approximately 10cm.
  5. Fill the Squares:

    • Place a teaspoon of Nutella or cherry jam in the center of each square. You can choose one or both fillings for a variety of flavors.
  6. Shape the Triangles:

    • Beat the egg in a small bowl. Use a pastry brush to lightly coat the edges of the dough squares with the egg wash.
    • Fold each square diagonally to form a triangle, sealing the edges tightly to avoid any filling from leaking out during baking.
  7. Bake the Triangles:

    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the filled triangles on it. Brush the tops of the triangles with the remaining egg wash to give them a golden, glossy finish when baked.
    • Preheat your oven to 180-200ยฐC (350-400ยฐF). Bake the triangles for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crisp.
  8. Serve:

    • Once baked, remove the ricotta triangles from the oven and transfer them to a serving tray. If you like, dust them with powdered sugar to add a finishing touch.
    • Serve the triangles either warm (be cautious of the hot filling) or allow them to cool to room temperature before serving. Enjoy the delightful combination of rich ricotta, sweet cherry jam, and decadent Nutella in every bite!

These ricotta-filled pastry triangles, with their sweet cherry jam and Nutella center, make for a perfect dessert for any occasion. Their crispy exterior contrasts beautifully with the creamy, flavorful filling, offering a delightful treat that will please any palate. Serve them as an indulgent after-dinner sweet or as an afternoon snack with your favorite drink.
