Ingredients
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3 cups unbleached flour
- 2 tablespoons white sugar
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/2 cups sultanas
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, heat the milk until simmering, then remove it from the heat.
- Mix in the butter until melted, then allow the mixture to cool until lukewarm.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.

- In a small bowl, beat together the egg yolk and water.
- Brush the risen loaf with the egg yolk mixture, then bake it until the loaf is golden and the bottom sounds hollow when tapped, about 40 minutes.
