Description

Start your day with a delightful breakfast that’s as visually stunning as it is delicious. These Breakfast Flowers are a complete breakfast entree with a festive flair, perfect for any morning occasion. Serve alongside fresh fruit, juice, hot baked biscuits, and your favorite beverage for a meal that’s sure to impress.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound sausage
  • 16 wonton wrappers
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 8 tablespoons pecorino romano cheese
  • 8 tablespoons parmesan cheese
  • 8 eggs
  • Green onions, diced
  • Salsa
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Cook Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until it’s lightly browned. Once cooked, drain the excess fat and set the sausage aside.

  3. Prepare Muffin Cups: Grease 8 extra-large muffin cups, each approximately 2 1/2 inches wide, with non-stick spray.

  4. Layer Wonton Wrappers: Place one wonton wrapper in each muffin cup. Lightly coat each wrapper with non-stick spray and brush with butter.

  5. Create Blossom Shape: Layer a second wonton wrapper over the first one in each muffin cup, placing it on an angle to create a blossom shape. Again, coat with non-stick spray or brush with butter.

  6. Add Cheese: Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of grated pecorino romano cheese into each wonton cup.

  7. Crack Eggs: Carefully crack one egg into each cup over the cheese.

  8. Add Sausage: Top each egg with 1/8 of the cooked, drained sausage.

  9. Sprinkle Green Onions: Distribute diced green onions evenly over each egg.

  10. Season: Season each egg with salt and pepper to taste.

  11. Bake: Place the muffin pan in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the wonton wrappers are golden and the eggs are set. If the wrappers brown too quickly, cover the muffin pan with foil during baking.

  12. Serve: Once cooked, remove the Breakfast Flowers from the oven and serve them warm with your favorite salsa on the side.
