Sautéed Shredded Tuna with Tofu and Tempeh

Tumis Tongkol Suwir Tahu Tempe

Ingredients:

  • 2 medium-sized tongkol (skipjack tuna), fried and shredded
  • 1 block of tofu, cut into cubes and fried
  • 1 block of tempeh, cut into cubes and fried
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 piece of galangal, smashed
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 kaffir lime leaves
  • 4 bird’s eye chilies, chopped
  • 2 red chilies, chopped
  • Salt, to taste
  • Sugar, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Sweet soy sauce, to taste
  • Water, as needed

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Aromatics:
    Heat a little oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the finely chopped garlic, onion, bird’s eye chilies, red chilies, smashed galangal, kaffir lime leaves, and bay leaf. Sauté until the mixture becomes fragrant and the onions are translucent.

  2. Season the Base:
    Pour in enough water to create a sauce base. Season with salt, sugar, sweet soy sauce, and pepper according to your taste preferences. Stir well to combine all the flavors.

  3. Add the Main Ingredients:
    Gently fold in the shredded tongkol, fried tofu cubes, and fried tempeh. Mix everything together thoroughly, allowing the ingredients to absorb the flavors of the sauce.

  4. Cook and Blend:
    Continue cooking for a few more minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and the ingredients are well-coated and heated through.

  5. Serve:
