Recipe Instructions:
- Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare baking dish: Pour the melted butter into a 9×13-inch baking dish, ensuring it covers the bottom evenly.
- Season chicken: Place the chicken breast halves in the baking dish, skin side down. Sprinkle them with seasoning salt and minced garlic.
- Add bacon: Turn the chicken over so the skin side is up. Season the skin with more seasoning salt if desired. Lay the bacon strips on top of the chicken. (If using 4 breast halves, cut the bacon pieces in half before laying them on top.)
- Add mushrooms: Sprinkle the sliced mushrooms evenly over the chicken and bacon.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-60 minutes, or until the chicken is no longer pink in the center and the juices run clear.
- Prepare sauce: Once the chicken is cooked, remove the baking dish from the oven. Transfer the chicken, bacon, and mushrooms to a platter and keep them warm.
- Make cream sauce: Pour the juices from the baking dish into a small saucepan. Whisk in the heavy cream and heat over low heat until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Serve: Pour the creamy sauce over the chicken and serve warm.
Tips:
- For extra flavor, you can marinate the chicken breasts in your favorite seasoning blend for 30 minutes to 1 hour before cooking.
- If you prefer crispy bacon, you can partially cook it in a skillet before adding it to the chicken in the oven.
- Feel free to customize the recipe by adding additional vegetables such as spinach, bell peppers, or onions to the baking dish.
- This dish pairs wonderfully with mashed potatoes, rice, or a simple green salad.
