Savory Bandeng Gulai with Tofu Delight

Gulai Bandeng dan Tahu

Ingredients

2 ekor Ikan bandeng (cut into portions)
5 buah Tahu (sliced and fried)
Secukupnya Daun bawang (for garnish)
1 paket (200 ml) Santan Kara
Secukupnya Garam
Secukupnya Penyedap rasa (seasoning)
Secukupnya Gula (sugar)
Secukupnya Minyak goreng (for frying)

Uleg Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
2 buah Cabe merah besar (red chilies)
10 buah Cabe rawit (bird’s eye chilies)
3 siung Bawang merah (shallots)
5 siung Bawang putih (garlic)
5 buah Kemiri (candlenuts)
1 sdt Ketumbar bubuk (ground coriander)
1 cm Kunyit (turmeric)
1 cm Jahe (ginger)
1 buah Tomat (tomato)
Secukupnya Daun salam (bay leaves)
Secukupnya Sereh (lemongrass)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Uleg: In a hot pan, add oil and sauté the uleg ingredients (cabe merah, cabe rawit, bawang merah, bawang putih, kemiri, ketumbar, kunyit, jahe, and tomat) until fragrant and golden.

  2. Add the Fish: Introduce the ikan bandeng into the pan, ensuring it is well coated with the sautéed spices, then pour in enough water to cover the fish.

  3. Season the Dish: Add garam, gula, and penyedap rasa to taste. Allow the mixture to simmer until the fish is half cooked.

  4. Incorporate the Tofu and Coconut Milk: Gently place the fried tahu into the pot and add the santan Kara. Stir gently to combine all ingredients.

  5. Final Cooking: Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for a few minutes until all the flavors meld together. Once ready, turn off the heat.

  6. Serve: Garnish with daun bawang and serve hot with steamed rice for a delightful meal. Enjoy your Gulai Bandeng dan Tahu!
