Sirloin Steak with Savory BBQ Marinade and Optional Mushroom Sauce

Prepare to indulge in a succulent Sirloin Steak, perfectly marinated with a savory BBQ blend and cooked to your desired level of doneness. This recipe also includes a delectable optional mushroom sauce, adding a gourmet touch to your meal.

Ingredients

For the Sirloin Steak:

  • 1.5 cm (approximately 0.6 inches) thick Sirloin steak
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons BBQ seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • A pinch of sugar
  • A pinch of black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

For the Optional Sauce:

  • Remaining marinade from cooking
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 cup champignon mushrooms, sliced (optional)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Steak:

    • In a small bowl, combine the mustard, BBQ seasoning, salt, sugar, black pepper, and white pepper.
    • Rub this mixture evenly over each slice of Sirloin steak.
    • Place each marinated steak slice into a 1 kg (2.2 lbs) plastic bag, folding the bag carefully to remove excess air. Seal the bag and refrigerate overnight to allow the flavors to infuse.
  2. Prepare for Cooking:

    • Before cooking, remove the steak slices from the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for even cooking.
  3. Cook the Steak:

    • Heat a non-stick skillet or frying pan over medium heat.
    • Add a small amount of vegetable oil to the pan. Once the oil is hot, place the steak slices in the pan.
    • For a medium-well finish, cook each side of the steak for approximately 2 to 2.25 minutes. Be cautious of hot oil splatters.
  4. Prepare the Sauce (Optional):

    • After removing the steak from the pan, add the remaining marinade to the skillet.
    • Add chopped onions and, if using, the sliced champignon mushrooms to the pan.
    • Sauté until the onions are translucent and the mushrooms are tender. Adjust the seasoning to taste, adding extra salt, sugar, or pepper as needed.
  5. Serve:

    • Serve the Sirloin steak either drizzled with the mushroom sauce or on the side. For an extra kick, add a dollop of sambal sauce or your favorite hot sauce.

Enjoy your perfectly cooked Sirloin steak, enhanced by a rich BBQ marinade and optionally accompanied by a flavorful mushroom sauce. This dish pairs beautifully with a variety of sides and is sure to impress at any dinner gathering.
