Beef and Mushroom Delight

This Beef and Mushroom Delight is a savory dish that combines tender beef with mushrooms, fresh corn, and a flavorful sauce, making it an excellent choice for a hearty meal. Perfectly paired with hot steamed rice, this dish is both satisfying and easy to prepare.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 pound beef, cut into small cubes
  • 1/4 pound oyster mushrooms, sliced as desired
  • 1 ear of corn, husked and either shaved or coarsely grated
  • 2 small packs of boiled egg whites, diced
  • 1 medium onion, sliced lengthwise
  • 1 stalk green onion, sliced diagonally
  • 1 large tomato, sliced lengthwise
  • 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch, dissolved in a little water
  • 1 packet oyster sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar (or to taste)
  • 1 packet beef seasoning
  • 5 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 1 egg yolk, mixed with cornstarch
  • A pinch of black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or wok, heat 5 tablespoons of cooking oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion, green onion, and tomato. Sauté until fragrant and the onions are soft.

  2. Cook the Beef: Add the beef cubes to the pan. Season with a pinch of salt and black pepper. Pour in a little water to help the beef cook evenly and become tender. Let it simmer until the water has reduced and the beef is cooked through.

  3. Add Vegetables: Stir in the shaved or grated corn, oyster mushrooms, and diced egg whites. Cook until all the ingredients are thoroughly cooked and the vegetables are tender.

  4. Season the Dish: Pour in the oyster sauce, beef seasoning, and add a pinch of black pepper. Adjust the sweetness by adding granulated sugar to taste. Stir well to combine all the flavors.

  5. Thicken the Sauce: Gradually add the cornstarch mixture combined with the egg yolk to the pan. Stir constantly to prevent lumps and to thicken the sauce. Continue cooking until the sauce is bubbling and thickened.

  6. Serve: Once the dish is ready and the sauce has a nice consistency, remove it from the heat. Serve the Beef and Mushroom Delight hot with freshly steamed rice.
