Savory Beef Gyudon Rice Bowl

Beef Gyudon Bowl

Ingredients:

  • 300 grams beef, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced

Sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons apple juice (or rice vinegar)
  • 1 tablespoon dashi powder (or chicken stock powder)
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1.5 cups water

Garnish:

  • Toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 stalk green onion, finely sliced

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Sauce:
    In a medium saucepan, combine soy sauce, sugar, apple juice (or rice vinegar), dashi powder (or chicken stock powder), grated ginger, and water. Stir well to dissolve the sugar and dashi powder.

  2. Cook the Sauce:
    Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the sauce mixture to a boil.

  3. Add the Onion:
    Once the sauce is boiling, add the sliced onion. Allow it to simmer for about 2 minutes until the onion begins to soften.

  4. Cook the Beef:
    Add the thinly sliced beef to the saucepan. Cook for approximately 5 minutes or until the beef is fully cooked and tender.

  5. Serve:
    Serve the cooked beef and onion mixture over a bed of steamed rice. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and garnish with finely sliced green onions.
