Bev’s Spaghetti Sauce

This is a recipe I have developed over a number of years. This is the only spaghetti sauce my family will request! Very easy to make. I hope your family enjoys it as much as mine does!

Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground pepper
- 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
- 2 cans (15 oz each) tomato sauce
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 8 oz fresh mushrooms, sliced
- Parmesan cheese, for topping
Instructions:

Prepare the Base:
- In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, bay leaves, dried oregano, dried basil, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Brown the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon, until it is fully cooked and the onions are translucent.

Add Tomato Products:
- Once the beef is browned, add the tomato paste, tomato sauce, and diced tomatoes to the pot.
- Stir well to combine all ingredients.

Simmer:
- Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat.
- Once simmering, reduce the heat to low and cover the pot.
- Allow the sauce to simmer gently for 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

Prepare Spaghetti:
- While the sauce is simmering, cook your spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente.
- Drain the spaghetti and set aside.

Sautee Mushrooms:
- In a separate skillet, heat a bit of olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the sliced mushrooms and sautΓ© until they are golden brown and tender, about 5-7 minutes.

Serve:
- To serve, spoon the spaghetti onto plates or into bowls.
- Ladle the homemade spaghetti sauce generously over the spaghetti.
- Top each serving with a spoonful of sautΓ©ed mushrooms.
- Finish with a sprinkle of freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
