Homemade Beef Steak with Mushroom Sauce

Ingredients:

For the Steak:

  • 2 slices of beef steak
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

For the Mushroom Sauce:

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carton full cream milk
  • Sliced button mushrooms (as needed)
  • Cornstarch, dissolved in a little water (as needed)
  • Salt, sugar, and pepper to taste

For the Sautéed Vegetables:

  • 1 bunch Chinese broccoli (kailan) or other preferred vegetables
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt, sugar, and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Steak:

    • Rub the beef slices with salt, black pepper, dried thyme, and vegetable oil. Let them marinate for about 15 minutes.
  2. Cook the Vegetables:

    • Heat a pan and add a bit of oil. Sauté the minced garlic until fragrant.
    • Add the Chinese broccoli or other vegetables and season with salt, sugar, and pepper. Cook until the vegetables are tender.
  3. Make the Mushroom Sauce:

    • In a separate pan, heat some oil and sauté the minced garlic until aromatic.
    • Add the sliced button mushrooms and cook until they are tender.
    • Pour in the full cream milk and bring to a gentle simmer.
    • Add the dissolved cornstarch to thicken the sauce. Season with salt, sugar, and pepper to taste. Stir until well combined and the sauce has thickened.
  4. Cook the Steak:

    • Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle pan over medium-high heat.
    • Cook the marinated beef slices for approximately 5 minutes on each side or until cooked to your preferred level of doneness.
  5. Assemble the Dish:

    • On a serving plate, arrange the sautéed vegetables.
    • Place the cooked steak on top of the vegetables.
    • Spoon the mushroom sauce over the steak.
