Savory Beef Teriyaki Stir-Fry with Spicy Chilies

Beef Teriyaki Recipe


Ingredients:

  • 400 grams of beef
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large onion, sliced lengthwise
  • 2 pieces of galangal, crushed
  • 4 red chilies, sliced lengthwise
  • 6 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
  • 4 green chilies, sliced lengthwise
  • 2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce
  • Sugar, to taste
  • Warm water, as needed
  • Cooking oil, as needed
  • 1/2 tablespoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch, dissolved in water
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • Salt, to taste

Steps:

  1. Prepare the Beef:

    • Boil the beef until tender. Once cooked, slice it thinly.
  2. Marinate the Beef:

    • In a bowl, mix the teriyaki sauce, sweet soy sauce, soy sauce, and ground black pepper. Add the sliced beef, ensuring it is well coated with the marinade. Refrigerate for 30-40 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  3. Cook the Aromatics:

    • Heat some cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and crushed galangal, and sauté until fragrant.
  4. Add the Vegetables and Beef:

    • Add the sliced red and green chilies to the pan and stir-fry briefly. Then, add the marinated beef to the pan. Stir-fry until the beef is evenly cooked and well mixed with the aromatics.
  5. Simmer the Sauce:

    • Pour in warm water to create a sauce base. Add sugar and salt to taste. Bring the mixture to a boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer.
  6. Thicken the Sauce:

    • Stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook until the sauce has thickened and the beef is well-coated with the flavorful sauce. Allow the sauce to reduce slightly, concentrating the flavors.
  7. Finish and Serve:

    • Remove from heat and transfer to a serving dish. Enjoy your homemade Beef Teriyaki with steamed rice or as part of a larger meal.

Note:
Traditionally, bell peppers are used in this recipe. If you don’t have bell peppers on hand, you can substitute them with additional chilies for a spicy kick.
