Beef Teriyaki Recipe
Ingredients:

- 400 grams of beef
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large onion, sliced lengthwise
- 2 pieces of galangal, crushed
- 4 red chilies, sliced lengthwise
- 6 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
- 4 green chilies, sliced lengthwise
- 2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce
- Sugar, to taste
- Warm water, as needed
- Cooking oil, as needed
- 1/2 tablespoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch, dissolved in water
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- Salt, to taste
Steps:
-
Prepare the Beef:
- Boil the beef until tender. Once cooked, slice it thinly.
-
Marinate the Beef:
- In a bowl, mix the teriyaki sauce, sweet soy sauce, soy sauce, and ground black pepper. Add the sliced beef, ensuring it is well coated with the marinade. Refrigerate for 30-40 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
-
Cook the Aromatics:
- Heat some cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and crushed galangal, and sauté until fragrant.
-
Add the Vegetables and Beef:
- Add the sliced red and green chilies to the pan and stir-fry briefly. Then, add the marinated beef to the pan. Stir-fry until the beef is evenly cooked and well mixed with the aromatics.
-
Simmer the Sauce:
- Pour in warm water to create a sauce base. Add sugar and salt to taste. Bring the mixture to a boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer.
-
Thicken the Sauce:
- Stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook until the sauce has thickened and the beef is well-coated with the flavorful sauce. Allow the sauce to reduce slightly, concentrating the flavors.
-
Finish and Serve:
- Remove from heat and transfer to a serving dish. Enjoy your homemade Beef Teriyaki with steamed rice or as part of a larger meal.
Note:
Traditionally, bell peppers are used in this recipe. If you don’t have bell peppers on hand, you can substitute them with additional chilies for a spicy kick.
