Beef Tongue in English Sauce (Lidah Sapi Saus Inggris)

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams of pre-cooked beef tongue, diced
  • 150 ml water
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1/3 of an onion, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon fried shallots (optional)

For the Sauce (mix together):

  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons mushroom soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons sweet soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon oyster sauce
  • To taste: sugar, salt, pepper

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Base:
    Begin by heating a combination of margarine and cooking oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the finely chopped garlic and sliced onion to the skillet, sautéing them until they become fragrant and translucent.

  2. Cook the Beef Tongue:
    Add the diced beef tongue to the skillet, stirring briefly to combine and heat through.

  3. Add the Sauce Ingredients:
    Pour in the pre-mixed sauce ingredients along with the water. Stir well and allow the mixture to come to a boil.

  4. Season to Taste:
    Once the sauce has reached a boil, taste and adjust the seasoning with sugar, salt, and pepper as desired.

  5. Finish and Serve:
    If using, stir in the fried shallots. Mix well and turn off the heat. Your dish is now ready to be served. Enjoy! 😊
