Black Pepper Beef Steak Recipe: An Irresistible Delight! 👍

Ingredients:

For the Steak:

  • 2 pieces of thick beef steak (approximately 1 cm thick, 225 grams each)
  • Papaya leaves, as needed

Marinade:

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or vegetable oil

For the Sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce
  • 200 ml water
  • 1/4 teaspoon bouillon powder
  • 1 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons leftover marinade from the steak
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch, mixed with 2 tablespoons water

For Serving:

  • Mashed potatoes, French fries, or boiled potatoes
  • Steamed vegetables (green beans, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, corn, etc.)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Steak:

    • Begin by wrapping the beef steak with papaya leaves. This helps tenderize the meat. Let it sit in the refrigerator for approximately 1 hour.
  2. Marinate the Steak:

    • After chilling, remove the steak from the refrigerator and rinse it thoroughly. In a small bowl, combine the marinade ingredients: salt, coarsely ground black pepper, minced garlic, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, sweet soy sauce, and olive oil.
    • Place the steak in the bowl, ensuring it is thoroughly coated with the marinade. Use a fork or the tip of a knife to prick the steak, allowing the marinade to penetrate the meat. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for a minimum of 1 hour or up to overnight in the chiller.
  3. Cook the Steak:

    • Remove the marinated steak from the refrigerator and let it drain. Prepare a non-stick skillet (a thicker pan is preferable for even heat distribution).
    • Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in the pan until it is very hot, which helps to lock in the juices while cooking. Place the steak in the pan and cook over low heat. Sear the bottom side until it is browned (about 1.5 minutes). Flip the steak and cook the other side until done (about 1.5 minutes). Remove the steak from the pan and place it on a serving plate.
  4. Make the Sauce:

    • In the same pan used for cooking the steak, add 1 tablespoon of butter. Sauté the finely chopped onion until it becomes translucent and lightly browned. Add the minced garlic and continue to sauté until fragrant.
    • Pour in the oyster sauce and sweet soy sauce, stirring well. Cook over low heat until the sauce is aromatic and the flavors are well combined.
    • Add the water, bouillon powder, coarsely ground black pepper, and granulated sugar. Bring the sauce to a boil.
  5. Finish the Sauce:

    • Stir in the leftover marinade from the steak. Continue to cook until the sauce reaches a boiling point. Taste and adjust the seasoning by adding more salt or sugar if needed.
    • Mix the cornstarch with water to create a slurry and add it to the sauce. Stir continuously until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat.
  6. Serve:

    • Pour the sauce over the cooked steak and serve with your choice of side dishes such as mashed potatoes, French fries, or boiled potatoes. Accompany with steamed vegetables like green beans, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and corn.

Enjoy this delectable black pepper beef steak with its rich and flavorful sauce, perfect for a satisfying meal! 🍴😋
