Black Pepper Beef (Sapi Lada Hitam)

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams of beef
  • 2 packets of black pepper seasoning (Saori Lada Hitam)
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 5 small chilies, sliced
  • Water (from boiling the beef)
  • Sesame oil or margarine

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Beef: Begin by marinating the beef with lime or lemon juice to remove any strong odor. This step helps tenderize the meat and enhances its flavor. After marinating, rinse the beef under cold water.

  2. Pre-Boil the Beef: Place the beef in a pot with enough water to cover it. Bring to a boil, then discard the water to remove impurities. Refill the pot with fresh water and return it to a boil. Cook the beef until tender, which may take two to three rounds of boiling, depending on the cut and thickness of the meat.

  3. Slice the Beef: Once the beef is tender, remove it from the pot and slice it according to your preference. You can cut it into strips or bite-sized pieces.

  4. Sauté Aromatics: In a separate pan, heat a small amount of sesame oil or margarine. Add the minced garlic, sliced onion, and small chilies. Sauté until the garlic and onion become fragrant and translucent.

  5. Combine and Cook: Add the sliced beef to the pan with the sautéed aromatics. Mix thoroughly to combine all the flavors. Add a bit of the beef broth (from the initial boiling) to enrich the dish. Stir well and cook until the liquid has reduced slightly.

  6. Serve: Once the beef is well-coated with the seasoning and the liquid has reduced to your liking, remove from heat. Serve hot with steamed rice.

Enjoy this savory and peppery beef dish, perfect for a comforting meal paired with fluffy rice.
