Beef Steak with Black Pepper Sauce
Ingredients:
For the Steak:
- 1 slice of beef steak (preferably sirloin, pure beef)
- 1 clove garlic, finely minced
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt
For the Black Pepper Sauce:
- ½ teaspoon finely ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 2 shallots, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
- 4 tablespoons sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 5 tablespoons water
For the Scrambled Egg:
- 1 egg
- 3 tablespoons UHT milk
- A pinch of salt
- A pinch of pepper
For the Boiled Potatoes and Carrots:
- 1 potato
- 1 carrot
Steps:
-
Prepare the Steak:
- Slice the beef into 1 cm thick pieces, selecting sirloin for a tender texture. Season both sides of the steak with finely minced garlic, ground black pepper, and salt. Allow it to marinate for 5 minutes.
-
Cook the Steak:
- Heat 1 tablespoon of margarine in a skillet over low heat. Place the steak in the skillet and cook, turning occasionally to prevent burning, until it reaches your desired level of doneness.
-
Prepare the Black Pepper Sauce:
- In a pan, sauté the chopped garlic and sliced shallots until they are half-cooked. Add the oyster sauce, tomato ketchup, and sweet soy sauce. Stir well to combine. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Gradually add the cornstarch mixture, stirring constantly, and cook over low heat until the sauce thickens. Adjust seasoning as needed.
-
Make the Scrambled Egg:
- In a bowl, whisk together the egg, UHT milk, a pinch of salt, and a pinch of pepper. Heat a small amount of oil in a pan over low heat, pour in the egg mixture, and let it cook undisturbed for a short while. As the edges begin to set, gently stir the egg with a spatula to form soft curds. Once cooked through, remove from heat.
-
Boil the Potatoes and Carrots:
- Cut the potato and carrot into long strips. Place them in a pot of salted water and boil until tender. Drain and set aside.
-
Assemble the Dish:
- Arrange the cooked steak on a plate. Spoon the black pepper sauce over the steak. Serve with the scrambled egg, boiled potatoes, and carrots on the side.
Enjoy your flavorful and satisfying beef steak with black pepper sauce, a delightful dish perfect for any meal.
