Stir-Fried Bratwurst and Beef with Vegetables

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 kg (250 grams) beef, thinly sliced
  • 2 bratwurst sausages
  • 4 baby carrots
  • 1/4 bell pepper
  • 1/4 cabbage
  • Seasonings:
    • 3 cloves shallots
    • 2 cloves garlic
    • 1/2 medium onion
    • To taste: candlenuts
    • To taste: chili sauce
    • To taste: oyster sauce
    • To taste: sweet soy sauce
    • Sugar, to taste
    • Salt, to taste
    • Chicken bouillon (Masako), to taste
    • Ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Slice the beef thinly. Cut the bratwurst sausages into bite-sized pieces. Slice the baby carrots, bell pepper, and cabbage into thin strips. Set aside.

  2. Prepare the Spice Paste: Finely grind the shallots, garlic, and candlenuts. This can be done using a mortar and pestle or a food processor.

  3. Cook the Aromatics: Heat a splash of oil in a large pan or wok over medium heat. Add the ground shallots, garlic, and candlenuts. Sauté until fragrant.

  4. Add the Onions: Once the aromatics are fragrant, add the sliced onion to the pan and cook until it becomes translucent.

  5. Cook the Vegetables and Meat: Add the baby carrots to the pan and cook for a few minutes until they start to soften. Next, add the bratwurst sausages and beef. Stir-fry until the sausages begin to expand and the beef starts to brown.

  6. Add Water and Simmer: When the sausages are puffed up, add 1/2 cup of water to the pan. Allow the mixture to simmer gently. Repeat the process of adding 1/2 cup of water and allowing it to reduce up to four times. This helps tenderize the meat.

  7. Add Remaining Vegetables: Once the beef is tender and the liquid has reduced, add the bell pepper and cabbage. Stir-fry until the vegetables are slightly wilted but still crisp.

  8. Season to Taste: Add chili sauce, oyster sauce, and sweet soy sauce according to your taste preferences. Stir well to combine. Season with sugar, salt, chicken bouillon, and ground black pepper. Adjust the seasoning as needed.

  9. Final Adjustments: Continue to cook for a few more minutes until all ingredients are well-coated with the sauce and the flavors are melded together.

  10. Serve: Serve the stir-fried bratwurst and beef with warm rice. Enjoy!

This stir-fried bratwurst and beef with vegetables is a savory and satisfying dish that brings together tender meat, crisp vegetables, and a flavorful sauce. Perfect for a quick weeknight meal or a hearty lunch.
