Sautéed Chayote with Beef Meatballs

- 10 beef meatballs
- 3 cloves garlic
- 2 shallots
- 4 bird’s eye chilies
- 1/2 tablespoon salt
- 1/2 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
Preparation Steps
- Prepare the Chayote: Peel the chayote under running water to prevent the sap from sticking. Once peeled, slice the chayote as desired.
- Salt the Chayote: Sprinkle a little salt on the sliced chayote and massage gently. Let it sit for a few minutes.
- Slice the Meatballs: Cut the beef meatballs into desired pieces.
- Sauté Aromatics: In a pan, heat a little oil and sauté the finely sliced garlic, shallots, and bird’s eye chilies until fragrant and softened.
- Cook the Chayote and Meatballs: Add the chayote slices and beef meatball pieces to the pan. Stir well to combine with the sautéed aromatics.
- Season the Dish: Add the salt, sugar, and oyster sauce to the mixture. Stir to ensure the seasonings are well distributed.
- Simmer: Add a small amount of water to the pan. Allow it to simmer until the water reduces, and the chayote is tender. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
