Chicken Steak ala Akari Papa

Ingredients:

  • 200 grams chicken thigh
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 kaffir lime leaves (optional, original recipe does not include)
  • 1 small packet of butter (hotel-style butter)

For the Sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon Lee Kum Kee Premium Soy Sauce (original recipe calls for Japanese soy sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon Japanese cooking wine (optional, original recipe does not include)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Rinse the chicken thighs and pat them dry with a paper towel. Squeeze the kaffir lime leaves over the chicken if using. Season the chicken with salt and pepper to taste. Allow it to marinate for a few minutes.

  2. Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, granulated sugar, water, and Japanese cooking wine if using. Stir until the sugar is dissolved and the ingredients are well combined.

  3. Cook the Chicken: Heat a pan over medium heat and add the butter. Once the butter is melted, add the chicken thighs to the pan. Cover the pan and cook for 2 minutes.

  4. Flip the Chicken: After 2 minutes, flip the chicken thighs over and cover the pan again. Cook for another 2 minutes.

  5. Add the Sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken thighs. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Flip the chicken again and pour any remaining sauce over the top. Cover and cook for another 2 minutes.

  6. Finish and Serve: Turn off the heat and let the chicken rest in the pan for about 5 minutes. If there is any sauce left in the pan, you can simmer it until it thickens slightly. Drizzle the thickened sauce over the chicken before serving.

Enjoy this flavorful Chicken Steak ala Akari Papa with your favorite sides!
