Description:
I experimented with different wonton recipes, until I came up with this one. These are a favourite in my home and disappear very quickly! You can deep fry these if preferred. I buy my wonton wrappers from Asian supermarkets.
Ingredients:
- 350g ground chicken
- 100g cabbage
- 3 spring onions
- 1 hoisin sauce
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 piece of ginger
- 1 oyster sauce
- 1 red chili
- 1-2 packs of wonton wrappers
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Filling:
- In a bowl, mix together ground chicken, finely chopped cabbage, sliced spring onions, and finely chopped red chilies.
-
Add Flavors:
- Grate garlic cloves and ginger into the bowl.
- Add hoisin sauce and oyster sauce to the mixture.
- Stir until all ingredients are well combined.
-
Fill the Wrappers:
- Separate wonton wrappers and lay them on a clean surface.
- Place 1-2 teaspoons of the filling mixture in the center of each wrapper.
- Lightly brush the edges of the wrappers with water.
-
Shape the Wontons:
- Bring the corners of the wrappers together to form a triangle or your desired shape.
- Pinch the edges tightly to seal the wontons.
-
Steam the Wontons:
- Bring a saucepan of water to a boil.
- Place a bamboo steamer lined with greaseproof paper on top of the saucepan.
- Arrange 5-6 wontons in the steamer, making sure they are not touching.
- Steam the wontons over simmering water for about 8 minutes, or until they are cooked through.
-
Serve:
- Carefully remove the steamed wontons from the steamer.
- Serve hot with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
Enjoy these delicious homemade wontons with friends and family! They’re perfect as an appetizer or as part of a meal. 🥟
